Werner Sunkel born and raised in Cape Town started Quills from Africa when the idea came to him in the year of 2000 while at College and he has never looked back since. A graduand in the IT industry realized that he was in the wrong career made a decision to change careers.
Today he runs a well established business with a trustworthy reputation and his work has attracted the attention of the media like decor magazines etc. Enthusiasts worldwide agree that his work is exceptional and will often go to extraordinary lengths to keep his clients happy.
The farm
The porcupine meat is a delicacy amongst our farm workers who live off the land. Nothing goes to waste, in the past the quills used to be burned in large drums as they posed a risk in lying in the field to other wildlife but also to prevent tire punctures. Now we make use of it to create an array of beautiful artwork and household products.
